Abstract

This study aims to explain how existentialist is depicted in Red At The Bone novel and how to analyze the protagonist’s resistance to the struggle with the existentialist issues. The object of this research is the novel Red at The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson (2019). Novel tells about young women Iris as main character survives to stay exist with existing problems. Pregnant before marriage, learning to be a young mother, continuing delayed education and facing her disappointed emotions because of college.This study uses a qualitative method to focus on in- depth observations. The theory that the writer uses in this study is existentialist feminism from Simone De Beauvoir (1949). The result of this study reveals that women who dare to face difficult problems will continue to exist wherever and whatever the circumstances. Moreover, the main character's courage in making decisions leads him to a happy life, and is can restore family traditions.
