Abstract

The main obstacle in this research is regarding on how to implement halal certification and halal labeling on home industry food products,sincethere are number of business actors using processed products originating from factory preparations with the unclear origins of the making, processing and materials used, whether it has fulfilled shariah compliance or not. This paper is categorized as a field research using a descriptive- qualitative approach, purposed tofigure out the implementation of halal certification and halal labeling on home industry food products. Specifically, the aim and use of this scientific work is to understand and explain the implementation of halal certification and halal labeling, how the obstacles experienced by the home industry in the management of halal certification and halal labeling, and how efforts made in order toreceive halal certification and halal labeling in the home industry. Furthermore,it is essential to own a halal certification in food products, since the instructions in the Al-Qur’an of al-Baqarah verse 168 regarding on the importance of eating halal and good food, along with the existence of the rules that require to put halal labels on each package to be marketed, as determined in the Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and Number 7 of 1996 concerning food.
