Abstract

This study is aimed at identifying and analyzing meaning that is formed by the aspect of English semantics and tense in an employment agreement. This study used descriptive qualitative as the approach. Data were collected in sentence form. The sentences were taken from some articles of the employment agreement. Then the writer described one by one the tense and aspect of English Semantics of the sentences. Furthermore, the writer analyzed meanings that are formed by the tense and aspect of English Semantics using Comrie’s theory and some other expert theories about the aspect of English Semantics and tense. In conclusion, the writer found there are two tenses in the agreement namely future and present. Both tenses contain meaning about when the activities or events occur. Then in the aspect of English Semantics viewpoint, there are perfective, imperfective-continuous-non progressive, imperfective-habit as the grammatical aspect and state, activity, achievement as the lexical aspect. All of the aspect of English Semantics are found in the agreement have specific meaning about how the activities or events occur.
