Untuk menghasilkan busur listrik, digunakan elektroda yang tidak terkonsumsi terbuat dari logam tungsten atau paduannya yang memiliki titik lebur sangat tinggi. Alumunium 5083 atau Al-Mg 5083 merupakan paduan alamunium dengan magnesium sebesar 4,5% dan termasuk material yang tidak dapat diperlakukan panas namun dapat digunakan untuk proses pengelasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik hasil pengelasan tungsten inert gas (TIG) pada aluminium 5083 dengan menggunakan variasi kecepatan pengelasan yang berbeda. Dari hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa kekuatan tarik tertinggi terdapat pada metrial hasil pengelasan kecepatan 1 mm/s dengan nilai rata - rata kekuatan tarik sebesar 97.92 MPa. Sedangkan kekuatan tarik terendah terdapat pada material hasil pengelasan kecepatan 16 mm/s dengan nilai rata – rata kekuatan tarik sebesar 35,35 MPa.&#13;
