	bibo:abstract "This study focuses on analysing symbols and themes in five song lyric of The Who. This study aims at finding symbols and themes, analysing the meanings of symbols and themes  found based on biographical perspective and finding the relationship between the song writer‘s biography and the song lyric. The design of this  study  is  descriptive  qualitative.  The  data  were  analysed  by  finding  the symbols and themes in five of The Who‘s song lyrics based  on  the theory of symbol by Shaw and Frye, and the theory of theme by Kennedy and Perrine. Then it was explained the meaning of the symbols and theme found by relating it to the song writer‘s biography using the theory of Biographical Perspective by Nadel. The result of this study showed that the biography of a song writer is able to give influence to the song lyric he  wrote.
