The focus of this study is on how domestic violence is depicted and how \r\nthe protagonist deals with domestic violence in It Ends with Us (2024). The story \r\nfollows Lily as she builds a life in Boston and enters a relationship with Ryle \r\nKincaid that eventually becomes abusive. She must decide whether to stay or \r\nbreak the cycle of violence for her future. The study uses a descriptive qualitative \r\nmethod, with data presented through film scenes, dialogue, narrative, and \r\ncinematography elements. In conducting the analysis, this study uses Margi Laird \r\nMcCue’s (2008) theory of domestic violence. The results show that the film \r\ndepicts domestic violence as a repeating cycle involving control, guilt, and \r\nmanipulation. Furthermore, the film shows the protagonist’s journey toward \r\nrecovery through self-awareness and support from social service providers, the \r\nhealthcare system, and the justice system. The findings reveal that domestic \r\nviolence is a serious social issue and emphasize that breaking the cycle is possible \r\nthrough personal strength and external support systems.", "date_type": "submitted", "status_changed": "2026-08-26 12:25:59" }
