Abstract

The aims of this study were to analyze how racial discrimination is revealed in three selected short stories of the same author. The objectives of this study were to explain how racial discrimination is revealed and analyze the impact of racial discrimination depicted in Foreign Soil and other stories. The study uses a qualitative method, where the data were collected by reading the short stories. The writer used Gordon Allport's (1954) The Nature of Prejudice to analyze data. The theory was about discrimination revealed and how the impact of discrimination towards people. Racial discrimination revealed in short story Harlem Jones towards characters named Harlem Jones because has different type of skin color and involved in rioting as the impact, he got discriminated in the middle of rioting and led to him getting injured by police; in short story Shu Yi, both characters Ava and Shu Yi face racial prejudice for being different and being bullied by their friend, as the impact they feel unsure about how the look and racial prejudice revealed in short story Railton Road made Solomon prejudiced because he from other race and as the impact he face racism.
