Abstract

The objectives of this study were; (1) to identify the types of illocutionary acts in Alvin Zhou and Kalen Reacts’s video (2) to analyze the meaning of utterances from each type of illocutionary act in Alvin Zhou and Kalen Reacts’s video. The object of this study was Alvin Zhou and Kalen Reacts’s video: “I Made Giant 50-Pound Spaghetti And Meatballs For Kalen Allen from Kalen Reacts” from YouTube.The writer used theory from Austin (1962). The method and approach for the research used were descriptive qualitative. From the data analysis, it was found that there are 42% data of thanking, 38% data of informing, 3% datum of requesting, 4% datum of promising, 11% data of describing, and 4% datum of announcing. The most dominant data found were representatives. The result of this study showed that the data were mostly found are thanking because Kalen felt very happy, proud, and thankful, as Alvin had invited him to the special show. Alvin also greeted Kalen nicely and he was also happy too to meet him. In the side, Kalen and Alvin could also enjoy the giant spaghetti and meatballs which had been cooked by Alvin.
