Abstract

Advertising in the form of posters is a fairly effective way to convey messages visually. Poster is a delivery medium that has little space but can provide maximum information through the composition of images, text, and other visual elements. Understanding of images depends on the cognitive and experience of the audience based on their perspective, so the information conveyed through images sometimes has a different meaning. Poster the spirited away and my neighbour totoro are unique in delivering messages. The use of image as a signs that represent objects and images are constructed so that it has more meaning is intended to attract the interest of the audience who see the poster. Several perspective of semiotic theory are used to determine the pattern of construction of images to have meaning. It is seen that there is a signs for a particular object support by other images that ultimately interrelated and have unity of purpose meaning intact.
