Abstract
The title of this study is Woman Objectification Represented in C.J Roberts’ Captive in the Dark. This study aims at analyzing objectification experienced by and the effects of objectification on main character in Captive in the Dark Novel. This study applied the concept of woman objectification by Simone de Beauvoir (1949) and the concept of the effect of objectification by Fredrickson & Roberts (1997). The qualitative approached is used. As the result, the writer finds woman objectification experienced by the main character such as self uncontrolled situation, physical torture, submission and passivity, and sexual deviations. Also, the effects of objectification are preferred to shame of herself, frustration aggression, persistent depression, and trauma. Keyword: Woman objectification, The effects of objectification.
