Abstract
The development of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia and in the world has experienced significant growth in the last two decades. As a financial institution that is trying to implement the values of Islamic law in its operations, Islamic financial institutions have elaborated a wide range of contract in Islamic law in a variety of modern financial transactions. Broadly speaking, contract-agreement contained in Islamic law is divided into two types of contract, namely the contract tijari (commercial contract), among others; Sale and purchase, profit sharing (mudaraba and Musharaka) and lease, and contract Tabarru '(charity contracts) which consists of the contract wadiah, hawalah, kafalah, wakalah, Rahn and qard. Both types of contract is applied by modern Islamic financial institutions as a form of implementation of Islamic law in the modern world. This paper attempts to examine the application of the contract tabarru in Islamic financial institutions with the descriptive method of analysis. With expected this method can provide a clear picture of the contract applications tabarru in Islamic financial institutions. Keywords: Akad Tabarru , Islamic Financial Institutions.
