Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discuss teaching reading through predicting words using communicative language teaching (CLT) done in SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan. The theory which is used to analyze the study is Allen (2000) and Richard (2006). Besides, this study also describes the activities that happened in SMPN 6 Tangerang Selatan and how the teacher applied communicative language teaching in teaching reading through predicting words. Subsequently, in this study, the writer used qualitative method to analyzed data. From the data analysis, it was found that the material is familiar with the student. The activities are communicatively and the result of the test is very good. From the questionnaire, it was also found that they enjoy learning in the class. And also from interview, it was found that teaching reading through predicting words are interesting. Keywords : Reading, Predicting words, CLT, Qualitative
