Abstract

This study elaborates the impact of the isolation in Emma Donoghue’s Room novel. Post-modern that attempted to compare the theory on that era with the reality that happens in the novel of Emma Donoghue entitled Room. The isolation occurred in this novel becomes the major issue. The writer analyzed the issue with study relation of isolation in Room novel among Michel Foucault’s theory of body disciplinary system. The analysis has resulted and found, panopticon, power, torture, punish, discipline that followed by isolation and its impacts through the characters to control and to make the character obedient.
