Abstract

This study was entitled “Teaching Vocabulary using Online Comic (A case study at fifth grade of SD Kristen Dorea 1 Gunung Sindur)”. The aims of the study are to determine the materials used in teaching vocabulary using online comic, to describe the activities provided in teaching vocabulary using online comic, and to analyze the results teaching vocabulary using online comic. The participants in this study were the fifth grade students at SD Kristen Dorea 1 Gunung Sindur consisting of 18 males and 20 females. The qualitative approach was used to analyze the data obtained through observations, interviews and questionnaires. The theory used is Thornbury (2002) to analyze the importance of vocabulary and also Michael and Deborah (2006) to analyze teaching vocabulary using electronic media such as web, that can be used for the learning process. The intresting materials from online comic have been given to the students as a medium of teaching and learning pocess by practicing a new vocabularies. Based on the result findings and anlyzes, it can be confirmed that teaching vocabulary using online comic gave positive responds from the students. It shows that the result of the score was satisfied as well as the improvment of students vocabulary mastery. Keyword: Teaching Vocabulary, Online Comic, Qualitative, Electronic Media
