Abstract

This study is focused on feminism criticism of Naguib Mahfouz literary work entitled Palace Walk published by Vintage Books in 1990. In relation to the criticism of feminist literature, this study aims to reveal the cause, the forms, and the effect of gender inequalities experienced by women in literary works. To express gender inequality, this thesis used the descriptive method analysis. The result in the study analysis that gender inequality in the Palace Walk novel was found how the cause of gender inequality, how are discriminations against women over male domination and how are male domination effect the women. Gender inequality is caused by the patriarchal culture that has been inherent in people lives that ultimately make men dominate women. The data of this study are sentences which reveal the form of women oppression over male domination in the Palace Walk novel. Data collection is done by reading, writing, and making the data corpus. The research data were analyzed using Rosemarie Tong feminism theory. Keywords: Feminism, Female Subordinate, Marginalization of Women, Violence Against Women
