Abstract

This study purposes to analyze the onomatopoeic words in A Study of Onomatopoeia in “Archie Jamboree Comic”. It contains the analysis of the categories of onomatopoeic words and the meaning both lexical and contextual meaning. Descriptive qualitative is used in this study. The writer uses the theory categories by Strauss, Feiz, Xiang (2018) and the theory of meaning by Meijs & Vossen (1995). The results of the study shows that the Onomatopoeic words which are found in the Archie Jamboree comic shows the categories of onomatopoeic words are animal sound, anatomical sound, machine sounds, impact sounds and nature sound. Then the lexical meaning is the most dominant than contextual in the Archie Jamboree comic. Keywords: Comic, Onomatopoeia Lexical Meaning, Contextual Meaning and Catagories.
