Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explain semiotics related to symbols and meanings of symbols found on horror movie posters. The research method applied in this study is a qualitative approach to identify, analyze, and explain the symbols found on the Hollywood Horror Movie Poster using the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes (1983). The data in the discovery and analysis section of this study were taken from 5 Hollywood poster horror films. From the results of this study, it was found that these are 27 symbols consisting of symbols in writing and visual images that are viewed from the Denotation, Connotation and Myth contained in each symbol.
