Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know whether using repeated reading strategy in teaching reading. The writer conducted the study in the second year students of SMP Muhammadiyah 29 Sawangan, Depok academic year 2018/2019. The design of this study is using quasi-experimental research. The writer used purposive sampling then VIII D was chosen as an experimental class with 29 students and VIII C was chosen as control class with 25 students. Pre-test and Post-test are used as the instrument of the study. The result of this study shows that there was a significant effect to improve the students’ reading accuracy and fluency using repeated reading as a strategy. While, the score of t-test is 3.14, which is greater than t-table at the 5% level of significance (1.68), and at the 1% level significance (2.42). It can be stated that 1.68 <3.14> 2.42 it is 95% accurate. Keywords: Repeated Reading, Reading Accuracy, and Reading Fluency.
