Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the loyalty as a part of the character building reflected in the children illustrated book entitled Magic Toyshop My Magical Toyshop by Jessie Little (2010) in which friendship between the main character and her doll is portrayed. This study used qualitative method to examine the forms of words and pictures. The narrative elements in the story were analyzed by using Abrams’ theory and the function of the pictures elaborated with Fang’s, (1996). The issue of loyalty was discussed by using Adheenam‘s character building concepts (2015). Keywords: Character building, Illustrated Book, Loyalty, Picture.
