Abstract

This study refers to describe the neurotic anxiety disorder in The Polar Express. In this text, neurotic anxiety is encountered by the main character. The forms and causes of neurotic anxiety are described in this study. The psychoanalysis concept of Sigmund Freud is used in analyzing movie scripts. Freud states that anxiety is a disorder experienced by every adult or child, it is due to unfulfilled desires that are in the subconscious. Freud divided the anxiety into three categories: reality anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. Then he says neurotic anxiety is an anxiety disorder that comes from fear of something that comes from the mind. People who suffer from neurotic anxiety have different self-concepts in behavior and odd thoughts with anything. The results show that the character has an anxiety-based on neurotic disorder that is divided into five aspects: anxiety, insecurity, phobia, traumatic, and depression.
