Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the character of a novel in the perspective of symbolic interactions that are included in the field of social psychology. The application of the theory from Mead in analyzing Caitlin as the main character of Mockingbird novel by Kathrine Erskine can help in learning character well and deeply. Mead uses the Mind, Self and Society approach in interactions between characters. At the end of the analysis it was found that the symbolic interaction on Caitlin had effectson the actions and influenced the mindset according to the experience.
