Abstract
This study is conducted to analyze the type of derivational affixes, to find out the root of word and to describe the process of derivational affixes in International Journal of Pesantren Studies selected articles. Two articles were chosen from the top news articles. This study uses Qualitative research as the guidance to analyze the derivation affixes. The writer collects the data by some steps: finding the words containing derivational affixes by reading carefully, underlining the word that suppossed as derivational word, taking note to collects the data in another peace of paper, numbering the data that found, identifying and classifying the data and and the describe it into an essay. The result of this analysis shows that there are many derivational affixes used. The writer found 28 words are derived word through derivational affixes. This study found 28 data analyzed by the writer, there are 28 words are suffixes only. Most of them are derivational changing affixes. In this case they were 8 words decided as the changing affixes from verb to noun, 14 words concluded as the changing affixes from adjective to noun, 2 words concluded as the changing affixes from verb to adjective, 2 words decided as the changing affixes from adjective to adverb, 2 words concluded as the changing affixes from noun to adjective.
