Abstract
This study is aimed at finding out the materials of the activity, and the result of teaching writing narrative texts using communicative language teaching in first grade at SMK Mandiri 02 Balaraja. This study focused on the simple past materials, activities, and result of teaching writing narrative text of simple past tense using communicative language teaching. The approach used in this study is qualitative to analyze the data; the data were taken by doing the observation, interviewing to the teacher, and giving questionnaires to students related to their opinions about writing narrative texts using communicative language teaching. This study used three theories from Harmer (2001), Azar (2003), and Richard and Rodgers (2001). The finding of teaching writing narrative texts was interesting and the materials are useful for the students’ result, the result of the students’ score show that the highest score are 95, 70 as the lowest score and holiday is the favorite topic that the students have chosen in their narrative texts in writing.
