Abstract
The aims of this study are to classify idiomatic expression and analyze the meanings of idiomatic expressions. The source of the data is J. M. Barrie’s novel entitle Peter Pan (published in 2007 by Wordsworth Edition Limited in London). Qualitative approach is used to analyze the data. The writer uses Fernando’s theory (1996) regarding idiomatic expression. In his book, he defines about three types of idioms, they are pure idiom, semi idiom and literal idiom. Then the result of this study is: there are 30 data findings of idiomatic expression. Such by and by, as if and out of sight. Keyword: linguistics, semantics, idiom, novel
