Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the materials used, to describe the class activities, and to find the result of teaching vocabulary using picture books at second grade of SDI As-shafa. In this study, the approach used is qualitative, through doing the observation, interviewing the teacher, and giving questionnaires to the students to get information about what kinds of the materials and the activities given. the result of this study showed that picture books can help the students understand vocabulary and communicative language teaching as a method make the students more active, fun, and enjoy the leraning. Besides, the scores showed that the students got better achievement. Key words: Teaching Vocabulary, Picture Books,CLT,
