Abstract

This study discusses the psychological analysis of the main character in “Fifty Shades of Grey” novel by E.L. James. The purpose of this study is to describe the character and characterization of the main character, her attitude toward people surround her and to analyze the main character based on psychology. The method of analyzing the data in this study is descriptive qualitative. Sigmund Freud theory is used to analyze the attitude responses done by the main character. The result of this study found that personality of the main character had changed since she met the guy who has characters of BDSM (Bondage and Discipline (BD), Dominance and Submission (DS), Sadism and Masochism (SM)). This study might be as one of the references for other writers who are interested to analyse about main character using the psychological approach. Keyword: Character, Attitude and Psychology
