Abstract

The study aims to show the use of semiotic in their relationship of the signs, the objects, and the interpretents to find the messages or meanings that are found in the script of ‘Inception’ film using Pierce’s triadic theory. The writer uses a qualitative method to describe and analyze Semiotics in Inception film. The writer classifies the compiled data into three groups, they are sign, object, and interpretent, and then these groups of data are related to each other to find out appropriate meaning or message by using pierce theory. In the result of this study, there are 20 signs that were found in the script of Inception film and sign from Dominic Cobb went into a dream can be a part of sentences or words from texts or pictures and combined with the lesson that he had from his way to dreams to get new sign (interpretent), the writer analyzed and described the meanings of the signs by pierce’s theory to get semiotic process.
