Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide the comprehensive sight of pragmatics study which focusing on an illocutionary acts existence in the communication process amongst the characters in the “Changeling” film. The theory of Yule (1996) is utilized to explore deeper on the classification of illocutionary acts. The aim of this study is to define the classification of illocutionary acts which are found in the film and also define the meaning of those acts together with the context provided during the application of the acts. It is then discover that five classification of illocutionary acts of representative, directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative are found in the “Changeling” film, where the meaning vary from ordering, blaming, pardoning, assuring, and many other.
