Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the knowledge on literature study, especially in Intrinsic Elements of a literary work which limited on the study of plots and setting that can be observed in a novel. The object that used to collect the data is novel by Louisa May Alcott entitled “Little Women”. The data are collected from this novel are in the form of dialogues or conversation done by the characters in the novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. Methodology, theory This study also useful for not only the writer, but also for all college students who want to learn Literature on order to learn more about the intrinsic elements of a literary work such as plot and setting that has become a part in a story. The result of the study show that the plots and setting can actually be observed and seen from the dialogues between the characters in the novel, not only general novel but also in action novel. Thus, the plot and setting of the novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott can be observed through the data presented in this thesis.
