Abstract

This study aimed analyzing the factor of daydream’s content and functions of main character’s maladaptive daydreaming. In the form of essay, the data found is presented in narrative descriptive by using qualitative approach. All of the data were collected by reading, identifying, marking and analyzing potential object that related. Theories used in analyzing the object are theory from Sigmund Freud (1913) and William G. Farthing (1992) which is explain about the factor of daydreaming content and the functions of daydreaming. From analyzed data, it was found that there are several factors of daydreaming content, such as past-traumatic event, stress, emotion, and current concern; while the function of daydream is to make planning in order to achieve goals, express one’s need, and make routine task more endurable.
