Abstract

This study is aimed to identify and to analyze the standard of beauty as the controling images that denigrate black women beauty and the impact of it which surface the oppression for those who considered as the other in the novel, The Bluest Eye. This study aimed to show how controlling images appear in the novel has the power to ruin someone’s life, in this case black woman and become the tools of discrimination. This study applies the theory of feminism by Patricia Hills Collins (1990), with this theory the writer analyze the forms of controlling images with the standard of beauty in the society and the impact for “the other” community wich is black women.
