Abstract

Reni Marlina, 2013070092. Application of Rolland Barthes Semiology on Sukribo cartoons in weekly Kompas newspaper. Indonesian Literature Departement, Faculty of Arts, University of Pamulang : 2017 This study aims to (1) describe the denotative meaning contained in the Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail based on the Rolland Barthes theory, (2) to describe the connotative meaning contained in the Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail based on Rolland Barthes theory and (3) to describe the metalanguagecontained in Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail based on Rolland Barthes theory. The research method used is descriptive qualitative interpretative method. Based on the analysis of Sukribo comics consisting of denotative, connotative and metalanguage. In this thesis the author uses 11 pieces of comic strips as the object of research. In the preparation of this thesis refers to 42 pieces of good library of books, articles, journals, thesis and internet. The theory used to analyze data is the Rolland Barthes E-R-C semiotic system. Based on this research, the writer concludes that from the analysis about 11 denotative meanings of Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail, 11 connotative meanings of Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail, and 3 forms of metalanguage from Sukribo comic by Faisal Ismail.
