Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the changing behavior of the character in the Hacksaw Ridge novel by Booton Herndon. The qualitative method and descriptive analysis technique were used to analyze the psychological problem of the main character in Hacksaw Ridge novel. The data analyzed focuses on the character of Desmond Doss using Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalysis theory. The writer analyzing the characteristics of Desmond Doss and the psychological problem found from the concept of Structure Personality id, ego, and superego of the character in the novel. The writer found that the character suffers from his bad experience as a traumatic syndrome. His psyche is disordered because the three parts of his structure personality, id, ego, and superego does not work properly.
