Abstract
This study focuses on the semiotic analysis of the signs found on several Instagram accounts that are specifically related to the issue of resistance to Zionism in Palestine. The main objective of this study is to discuss the various signs and the meanings contained therein, which are represented through the posts on several Instagram accounts that sell Palestinian scarves. These signs include the motifs on the scarves, the use of captions, and the hashtags included in the posts. However, the main focus of this study refers to the signs contained in the scarf motifs. This study was conducted using the semiotic theory of (Peirce, 1985) which is then supported by Scott's (1986) theory of resistance. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach to process data textually with a focus on the interpretation of meaning. The results show that there are 74 signs on the scarf motif that represent the issue of resistance including the keffiyeh symbol, mosque motif, and Palestinian flag. The meaning that emerges from these signs is used to symbolize solidarity, identity as well as a form of resistance to acts of colonization that still occur in Palestine.
