Abstract
The aim of the study is to analyze the portrayal of violence against woman in “The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story”, its impact on victims, and the significance of resilience, empowerment, and public awareness in addressing such violence. Utilizing a qualitative method, the study explores violence against woman through Galtung's (1996) theory, focusing on two dimensions: direct violence, such as physical and verbal, and structural violence, such as repression and exploitation. These forms of violence are shown to intersect, emphasizing the complexity of violence against woman. Additionally, Scott's (1985) theory of resistance is employed to examine Kara Robinson's responses to violence against woman, highlighting her disguised resistance through strategic observation and preparation for escape and her public resistance by reporting the crime to authorities. The findings underline the multifaceted nature of resistance, encompassing psychological resilience, mental fortitude, and strategic action. This study aims to foster greater awareness of violence against woman and advocate for stronger preventive and supportive measures for victims.
