Abstract

This study entitled portrayal of Gender Discrimination in Prey Film (2022), aims to describe how gender discrimination portrayed in the film, and how the main character, deals with gender discrimination which directed to her. This study using descriptive qualitative method, and using theory from Russo and Pirlott (2006), gender-based violence as part of discrimination, particularly in the forms of various gender discrimination that limit women. The findings reveals that the male hunters discriminates by emphasizing masculinity, limited restrictions on social structures and verbal violence of gender discrimination. However, the main character challenges restrictive social norms by proving that, despite being underestimated and discriminated against by male hunters, she is capable of becoming a hunter through skill rather than physical strength.
