Abstract
This study is aimed to describe semiotics studies concerning signs and the meaning of the signs of Illuminati symbols in Despicable Me film. Illuminati symbol is a symbol showing identification with ordo Illuminati. The writer only focuses on finding the sign of illuminati symbols in Despicable Me film. This study uses semiotic analysis method with descriptive qualitative method. Semiotics is the study of sign which has meaning to inform something, to give a code or symbol to other people. The theory that is used in this study is Peirce’s theory (1931), triadic semiotic concepts model (representament, object, and interpretant). The data for the finding and analysis were taken from the scenes in Despicable Me film. The result of the study shows several signs which are related to Illuminati symbols.
