Abstract

Muhammad Abdul Jamil, The analysis of metro-sexual language on “I love you, man” movie based on language and gender in sociolinguistics. Thesis, English Letter Department, Faculty of English Literature, Pamulang University, Tangerang 2013. The aim of this study is to show the difference between the language of man, woman and metro sexual in sociolinguistics. Especially, this study focuses on metro sexual language on “I love you, man” movie. In this study, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. The writer describes and analyzes the data based on the influence of social factors and society in language by Holmes theory (2008). This study is also purposed to explain how social factors and society may influence the onset of new language that is metro sexual language. Finally, the characteristics of metro sexual language can be found and described in conversations on “I love you, man” movie. In the dialoges and utterances on these movie can also be explained how society and social factors can affect a language and may give rise to a new style of language as metro sexual language.
