Abstract
The study entitled “Ethical Dilemmas Represented in M3gan (2022)”, the film by Gerard Johnstone. This study aims to reveal the ethical dilemmas surrounding advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as represented in M3gan film. This study discusses ethical dilemmas inherent in the development, deployment, and interaction with advanced AI systems and factors that contribute to ethical dilemmas by getting insights from both film and real-world implications based on Rosi Braidotti's Posthuman Ethics theory (2013). A qualitative approach is used to analyze the narrative, the main character interactions, and the thematic elements of M3gan film as well as to explore main questions related to AI ethics, including issues of autonomy, accountability, and unpredictable AI behavior, as well as factors that contribute to ethical dilemmas. The result of this study shows that human’s unpreparedness in adopting the existence of advanced AI may impact on human well-being and affect human behavior. This study concludes that AI technology is undeniable, however, ethical considerations must keep pace.
