Abstract

This study, entitled "Power Abuse in the Film Jumper," aims to analyse the abuse of power by the Paladin Organization against individuals with special abilities, such as David, who can teleport. The research employs a qualitative method, utilizing narrative and cinematographic analysis of the film Jumper (2008) directed by Doug Liman. Michel Foucault's theory of power abuse and mechanisms of resistance is applied to understand the dynamics of power depicted in the film. The research findings indicate that the Paladins exploit their power to carry out repressive and inhumane actions against the Jumpers, illustrating a systematic abuse of power. On the other hand, David's resistance reflects efforts to fight against unjust domination and control. The study concludes that the film Jumper presents a critique of power abuse through its science fiction narrative, highlighting the importance of resisting injustice.
