Abstract
This study aims to analyze how gender stereotypes are portrayed in Support The Girls and how the female characters in the movie attempt to overcome these stereotypes. The movie displays the gender inequality often experienced in service work through its characters, where women are often perceived as visual objects and entertainers in a work environment that prioritizes their physical appearance over their skills or personality. This research uses a qualitative method that presents analysis in the form of writing and images by describing narrative and cinematographic elements. Using Alice Eagly's (1987) Social Role theory and Judith Butler's (1990) Gender Performative theory, this research analyses how female characters, especially Lisa Conroy, challenge and transcend the boundaries of gender stereotypes that are expected in the work environment. The research found that Support The Girls movie shows women's struggle and solidarity to achieve equality with men in an environment that positions them always in traditional gender views. Moreover, this research is expected to be a reference for further research on gender perceptions in the work environment and society.
