Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the narrative structure in Rapunzel and Little Red Cap from Brothers Grimm perspective. Since this study is a part of literary criticism, it converses about one of the sub-theories from structuralism which are related to fairy tales genre. The approach that has been used in this study is descriptive qualitative because the usage of variable data is not necessary to applied in this study. Besides, the outcome of this study is described in the form of essay. It initiates from the description of the whole thing of fairy tales that represented by the traits, magical things, and situation within Rapunzel and Little Red Cap. All the intrinsic elements of those fairy tales were analyzed by using a theory from Vladimir Propp because according to Propp, the concept point of function in criticism is as an important action and an essential unit in which can builds an appropriate sequence of a story.
