Abstract
This study aims to analyse the types of violence in the film Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey and to find out how the main character deals with the violence she experiences in the narrative and cinematographic elements. The theory used in this study is Johan Galtung's theory which explains the types of violence and also how to deal with the violence in his book entitled Peach by Peaceful Means (1996). This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach because this study is explained using narrative. The results of this study show three types of violence experienced by the main character, such as direct violence, structural violence and cultural violence carried out by Bobby Joe. In addition, the main character deals with the violence with positive and negative peace. This analysis emphasizes the importance of building systems and relationships that support long-term recovery and peace for an individual. By examining how violence and resistance are depicted in films, this research provides a deeper understanding of how violence can be a trigger for change, shape a person's resilience, and influence social life, as well as how individuals deal with trauma to recover and move on with their lives.
