Abstract

This study aims to find out the methods and materials used in teaching business English at PT Hero Supermarket English Training Program and also to know the activities given to participants in learning business English at English training program in PT Hero supermarket. The method that was used by the teacher is communicative language teaching (CLT). This study used qualitative method to analyze the data. The data were gained from the observation and interview, the result in this study show the teacher used some materials to teach business English such as read a short story, and business correspondence. The activities given to the participants were such as role play, and discussion. All those materials and activities can improve English skill of the participants. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching ESP using CLT method in this courses was recommended. Keywords: Teaching, English for specific purposes, Communicative language teaching, Qualitative
