Abstract

This study deals with morphology field which is limited on the study of compound words. The object of the analysis in this study is A Walk to Remember novel by Nicholas Sparks. The thesis entitled “Compound Words Analysis in A Walk to Remember Novel by Nicholas Sparks” explains about types, form, and sub-types of compound words. The theories used in this study are from Dobrovolsky, Katamba, and O’Grady (1996) to analyze the data. The writer uses qualitative approach as the study focuses on morphology. The result of the study shows there are fifty compound words which are found in A Walk to Remember novel. They are divided into three types compound noun, compound adjective, and compound verb, three forms, single, hyphen, and separate, and two sub-types endocentric and exocentric compound words.
