Abstract
Gender is the natural thing that every human has and there are two genders: masculine and feminine. This study explained about gender trouble of the main female character in Little Women novel based on her performance or performativity. The aim of this study is to explain gender trouble thatthemainfemale characterhas donethroughperformativity or performance of physical appearance and personality in Little Womennovelwhich are sometime contrast with the original gender. This study uses the qualitative method to analyze all of data which found in Little Women novel by Louisa M Alcott. To support this study the writer uses a theory which indicates the discussion of performativity, they are from Desi(2014), Larisza (2013) and Sarah (2013). The total data found in the novel are ten which consist of three physical appearances and seven personalities. The physical appearances consist of height, weight, and short hair that performs by Jo and the personalities includes confident, decisive, responsible, boyish, brave, ambitious, and working girl.
