Abstract

This study is aimed discussing about what kind of classification onomatopoeia word found in the The Adventure of Tintin, The Black Island comic. In addition to discuss the classification of onomatopoeia words in the comic, this study gives the explanation about the lexical and contextual meaning as well in order to be easier in understanding each onomatopoeia word. This study is using qualitative descriptive because the main data are taken from the comic. The findings of the analysis are important to know the classification and the meaning of onomatopoeia word based on the context and dictionary in using onomatopoeia word in the comic. There are the results of analysis onomatopoeia words in this comic, they are classification of lexical and grammatical meaning, type of onomatopoeia words, and general of onomatopoeia word in the comic. Key words: Onomatopoeia, Comic, Lexical and contextual meaning.
