Abstract

This study discusses the teaching reading skills to the second grade of the elementary students. The authentic materials are used by teacher like students’ handbook which contains texts with pictures. Moreover, the materials were taken from the internet and library by teacher. The process of teaching reading is analyzed by qualitative approach, through observation, interviews and questionnaires. In learning process the teacher uses Multiple Intelligence (MI) theory in order to improve students reading ability. From the result of this study, it can be concluded that students enjoy learning using picture book based on Multiple Intelligence (MI).
