Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explain the issues of trauma. This study is entitled "Traumatic Experiences in The Perfect World of Miwako Sumida Novel by Clarissa Goenawan". This study focused on the potrayal of trauma and the effect of trauma experienced by the main character in the novel. The object of this study is the novel "The Perfect World of Miwako Sumida " by Clarissa Goenawan (2020). The Author used the theory of trauma from Cathy Caruth (1995) was applied in this study. The results of this study show that the character in this novel has forms of responses to trauma such as experiencing anxiety, avoiding everything that reminds them of the traumatic experience and arousal. The effect of the trauma experienced is also detrimental to the main character, such as hyperarousal, self-harm and the presence of multiple personalities in the character.
