Abstract

This study analyzed how political polarization hindered cooperation and decision- making, it aimed to highlight the mechanisms through which polarization affects collaborative efforts and to provide insights into potential strategies for overcoming these barriers. The term Political polarization refers to the growing division among political elites and citizens, often manifesting in contrasting beliefs (ideological polarization) and hostile attitudes toward opposing groups (affective polarization) (Abramowitz, 2010; Iyengar et al., 2012). This study employed a qualitative approach to examine the effects of polarization on characters’ abilities to collaborate and make decisions, emphasizing how these divisions intensified challenges by hindering unified responses. Focusing on Don’t Look Up, directed by Adam McKay (2021), the study demonstrated how political divisiveness hindered action on shared issues. It highlighted the necessity of overcoming polarization to enable practical cooperation and achieve common goals. Keywords: Political Polarization, Global Isues, Divisiveness.
